Enoo onsen was found by Mr. Ando Chubei Kunihiro who lost his way on a trip in 1744. He found this hot spring welling up from a part of the river. In May1744, his submission for development was approved and he continued development at his own expenses. In 1861, a noble Lord Mr. Shimazu Tadayoshi had his summer cottage there and it's stonewall still exists today as an historical structure of the area.
